It’s Fireworks Season!
As we approach November, many pet owners around the world are already beginning to dread the firework season. Whether it be Bonfire Night or New Years Eve, fireworks can be very stressful for both pets and humans!
- Provide a safe place for your pet to go – this could be a pet carrier, crate or room that they can escape to and feel safe in.
- Keep your pets indoors – fireworks can be highly distressing for our furry companions so it is important to keep them away from the loud noises that they can create.
- Walk dogs earlier in the day – Take your dog out early in the day to avoid being out whilst fireworks are taking place.
- Ensure microchip/ID tag details are up to date – It is important for your pets microchip and/or ID tag details to be up to date so that they can be reunited with you if they happen to escape if they become spooked by fireworks.
- Provide distractions – Playing soothing music, providing your pets favourite toys and filled kongs can help to distract your pets from fireworks.
- Pheromone treatments – Using treatments such as Adaptil or Feliway can help to reduce stress in your pets.
- Speak to your vet – If you need any additional help, please speak to your vet.
