Bulldog Health Scheme

We are the only practice in the area approved with the Bulldog Breed Council UK to offer Bulldog Health & Conformation Scheme assessments.

Bulldogs are graded as bronze, silver or gold under the scheme, which aims to promote their health and well-being, promote healthy breeding practice, monitor current issues with the breed and educate breeders and pet owners.

Bronze level involves a veterinary health check according to the Council’s requirements, ensuring all dogs are assessed against the same criteria.

Silver level involves further physical examination to include coat colours, tail conformation and grading of joint stability and also DNA tests for hereditary disease.
Gold level involves an assessment of the airway usually under anaesthetic and heart screening.

Dogs must be 12 months and over for bronze and silver levels and over 24 months for gold level.
